Machiya 町家 (translates in Japanese to townhouse and shop) is an emulation of Japanese and Australian design concepts.
The design brief called for a sprawling, pavilion like home that maximized the available space, ensuring the design took full advantage of a property much larger than the typical lots recently developed within Torquay.
